What this ranking is doing
The order is the market’s posted total, highest first. The total is the single most useful public number for daily fantasy because it estimates how much scoring exists to be shared out. Everything else on a slate competes for a share of that number.
- LA @ DAL carries the highest total on the board at 176.5. It offers the most raw scoring to distribute, and it is also where the most other entrants will be looking.
- PHX @ POR has the tightest spread at PHX -1.5. Close games stay competitive into the fourth quarter, which protects starter workload.
- CON @ ATL has the widest spread at ATL -14.5. A one-sided result truncates the leading side’s passing volume and the trailing side’s running game.
This is a transparent rule applied to public numbers, not a model output. It tells you where scoring is expected and where workload is at risk — the two questions that come before any individual player decision. It does not know about this morning’s injury report, and it should not be the last thing you check.
Why a short slate changes everything
The WNBA plays a handful of games a night against the NBA's dozen. With fewer games, roster construction gets concentrated: the same names appear in most lineups, ownership climbs, and differentiating requires taking a genuine stand rather than finding an obscure name.
It also means a single late scratch reshapes the whole board. Injury news lands with far more force on a five-game slate than a twelve-game one.
Pace and usage carry more weight
Minutes are more predictable in the WNBA than in the NBA — rotations are shorter and starters play more of the game. That reduces the variance that comes from playing-time guesswork and pushes the decision back toward matchup quality and pace.
Common questions
When is the WNBA season?
The regular season runs from May through September, which fills the gap between the NBA and NFL calendars.
