What this ranking is doing
The order is the market’s posted total, highest first. The total is the single most useful public number for daily fantasy because it estimates how much scoring exists to be shared out. Everything else on a slate competes for a share of that number.
- TB @ CIN carries the highest total on the board at 50.5. It offers the most raw scoring to distribute, and it is also where the most other entrants will be looking.
- NYJ @ TEN has the tightest spread at TEN -1.5. Close games stay competitive into the fourth quarter, which protects starter workload.
- ARI @ LAC has the widest spread at LAC -9.5. A one-sided result truncates the leading side’s passing volume and the trailing side’s running game.
This is a transparent rule applied to public numbers, not a model output. It tells you where scoring is expected and where workload is at risk — the two questions that come before any individual player decision. It does not know about this morning’s injury report, and it should not be the last thing you check.
Read the total before you read anything else
A game total is the market's estimate of combined scoring, and it is the single most useful public number for DFS. High totals mean more scoring opportunities to distribute; low totals mean fewer, regardless of how talented the players are.
The spread tells you how the game will be played
A large spread implies the favourite leads and runs the ball late, while the underdog trails and throws. That expected game script changes which positions get volume, often more than talent does.
